Real Techniques' Eye Starter Set

Hi guys. For Christmas, I received this lovely Real Techniques brush set from my parents. After buying my first Real Techniques brushes (the Core Collection) back in 2013, I have been a huge fan of the brand due to its high quality yet affordable products. I asked for the eye starter set in order to accompany the Naked 2 palette that I knew I was also going to be receiving from my parents. Up until now, I have been a winged liner girl and I haven't experimented with eyeshadow too much for the fear of not being to have a perfectly blended smoky eye like all of the girls I look up to and watch on YouTube - including Pixiwoo themselves!

However, since this set has come into my life, it has made applying and blending out my new and beloved Naked 2 palette an absolute breeze! So today, I thought that I would do a little review of the Starter Set (which retails at £21.99) and tell you what I think about each brush so far!
Deluxe Crease Brush - This aptly named brush is perfect for applying eyeshadow into the crease of your eye to create more depth and definition. The brush is also great for seamlessly blending each colour into another. My only qualm with this brush is that it is slightly large for my eye shape, which means that it is sometimes hard to blend precisely and keep the colour exactly where you want it to be.

Base Shadow Brush - The base eyeshadow brush is brilliant at packing colour onto your lid before you blend it out. It allows your eyeshadow to be densely applied all over the eyelid, so the product is always evenly distributed.

Accent Brush - This brush is excellent for adding eyeshadow on your lower lash line or in the inner corners of your eye. It's small size means that you can add colour where you need it precisely, which means that you can include subtle details into your look.

Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush - This eyeliner brush is very thin, so it is perfect to use in conjunction with a gel eyeliner to get a precise line. It's pixel point tip means that you can create the thinnest of lines but you can also build up your liner to make it thicker depending on what type of look you are doing that day. My only wish is that the bristles were a bit stiffer so that you feel like you have more control when applying the product.

Eyebrow Brush - Unfortunately, the eyebrow brush is the only brush in the set that I am yet to use. This is because I do not currently have a matte eyeshadow or brow gel to use with it! However, from what I have heard by fellow bloggers, this brush is perfectly angled to fill in your brows accurately whilst making them look as natural as possible.

Overall, I am very impressed with this eye starter set. So far, I would give it a 10/10! It has everything a beginner would need to allow you to experiment with different eyeshadow looks and blend them out perfectly. As well as this, the set also comes with a holder for your brushes, so it's great to travel with too!

What do you think of these brushes? Have you got the starter set too? Please let me know by leaving a comment below!

My Monthly Favourites - December 2014

Hi guys. I cannot quite believe that this will be my last monthly favourites post of 2014! 2015 is just two days away and I cannot wait to continue blogging and improving my content as we go into the New Year. December has been a month of new discoveries products wise and have been waiting all month to share my recent finds with you all. Let's get started!

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
First up is the infamous Snow Fairy shower gel from Lush, which has now sadly been discontinued until Christmas comes around again next year. During 2014, I became an absolute Lush fanatic and so I knew that I had to ask for this shower gel for Christmas as it is a Lush cult classic! So far, I am absolutely loving it. Not only does it smell as sweet as can be, but it also lathers up really nicely. A little definitely goes a long way with this one, so this 250g bottle should last me a long time! Plus, who can resist the sparkle running through it? I know I can't!

Kiko Luscious Punk Lip Liner in 01 - £9.00
Next up is another gift that I received for Christmas from my friend Laura. This Luscious Punk lip liner came as part of a set with a matching lipstick. I had never tried anything from Kiko before but this duo has got me well and truly hooked! The shade of this lip liner is so natural and pretty, I have been wearing it every day since Christmas! The formula is creamy and long lasting, qualities which are two big winners in my books! I definitely think that in the coming year, I will be buying some more Kiko products because I am throughly impressed with this liner.

Real Techniques Setting Brush - £8.99
Next up is something that I bought myself as a little treat at the start of December, Real Techniques' setting brush. I wanted to buy myself a brush that would make setting my under eye concealer a breeze and this one has done just that! It's the perfect size to get into every small area of your face, whether it be for your eye area or somewhere else - such as around your nose or chin. It's the most excellent brush for pinpointing powder to a particular area and I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

The Country Candle Company Romance Candle - £8.50
I came across this candle whilst out shopping with my Mum in a kitsch little homeware store in my local town. What first drew me into the display was the cute polka dot tins but what really surprised me was the quality and the scent of the candle itself. I cannot quite put my finger on the scent of the 'Romance' candle but to me it is a musky floral smell with a hint of vanilla in there too. It smells so gorgeous and I have been burning it non-stop ever since!

Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter - £7.00
Last but certainly not least is this Whipped Clean shower butter from Soap & Glory. This product was included in S&G's exclusive Boots Christmas gift set that me and Mum have decided to share (see full review here.) Out of all of the items included in the box, this one has got to be one of my favourites. Similar to the way that any other in-shower body moisturiser works, you simply apply it and rinse it off. It leaves your skin feeling really soft and well nourished after each and every shower, which is sometimes a much better option that having to apply body butters in the cold after your shower (we've all been there!) This product can also be used to shave with which means that its a great 2-in-1 product. Plus, I just cannot resist its pistachio, almond and sweet vanilla scent -it's almost good enough to eat!

So, those are my top five favourites for of December! I hope that you've enjoyed reading about my new discoveries and most used products of this month. Have you ever used these products before? What do you think of them? As always, please let me know by leaving a comment below. This is my last post of 2014 so I hope that all of my followers have a wonderful New Years whatever you are doing to celebrate and I will see you back here in January. Thank you!

What I Got For Christmas 2014

Hi guys, I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas with your loved ones! It seems like 'What I Got For Christmas' posts are extremely popular amongst the beauty blogger community, so today I thought that I would jump on the bandwagon and show you all the gifts that I received from my friends and family this year. As always, I feel incredibly lucky and privileged for all of the presents that I have received and I have been thoroughly spoilt. I am a very lucky girl! So, without any further rambling, lets begin.

One of the main presents from my parents this year was the Naked 2 palette, also accompanied by the Real Techniques eye starter set. I am typically a liquid liner girl but I have been wanting to get into using more eyeshadow and changing up my look, so I am incredibly happy that I received these two gifts! I cannot wait to start using them and create the perfect smokey eye! On top of this, my parents also bought me my second ever lipstick from MAC in the shade 'Plumful,' which I have been eyeing up for quite a while.

I also received some more gorgeous beauty bits from my friend Sarah that I am beyond happy with! She bought me a MAC eyeshadow in 'Joy & Laughter,' a Clinique lid smoothie and a Bobbi Brown tinted eye brightener.

From my brother, I asked for a whole lot of Lush products this year! I asked for some of my all time favourites (The Comforter and Buffy Body Butter,) as well as some more festive items that I am yet to try. I am really excited to use the Luxury Lush Pud as I've seen how multi-coloured it turns your bath water and I am also so pleased that I am finally the owner of Snow Fairy, it smells soooo sweet and delicious!

Another amazing gift that I received from my parents is this gorgeous bra and knicker set from Boux Avenue! I absolutely love the colour and design of this underwear and I feel so lucky because Boux Avenue are such a luxurious brand. The set was packaged up so nicely and there were even white petals hidden inside the box! I've never really spent that much money on lingerie in the past, so this is a real treat for me!

My boyfriend got me a lovely array of gits this year! Firstly, he bought me The Fault In Our Stars and the final 90210 box set which was missing from my DVD collection. Plus, a huge box of Munchies that I can indulge in whilst watching all of my new discs. As well as this, he also got me a few Lush bits that all smell absolutely amazing, as he knows how much of a Lush addict I am. However, the most amazing gift of all is the most gorgeous feather necklace from Pandora! I was incredibly shocked when I opened it up as I have never been bought expensive jewellery before. This necklace is so special to me and it's something that I can keep forever!

As you can see, my parents thoroughly treated me this year, as I also received a new bottle of my favourite perfume - Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna. As well as this, they also got me these adorable Minnie Mouse fleece pyjamas. They are the most comfortable & cosy PJ's ever and they're so soft that even more dog loves to lie on them!

Last but not least, my friend Laura got me these two lovely presents. First up are these cute penguin slipper socks. They are really comfy and I just love the adorable slogan on them! As well as this she also got me this really cool lip set from Kiko, which is a brand that I've never tried before. The set include a matching pinky nude lipstick and lip liner. They are the perfect every day colour and are super long lasting!

Overall, I am so happy with each and every present that I received from my friends, family and boyfriend this year. I know that I am incredibly lucky to get such wonderful gifts and I cannot wait to start using them all. I hope you all liked reading my 'What I Got For Christmas' post. If you have done a post like this yourself, please send me a link to it because I would love to see what all of my followers got too! Thank you for reading and again, I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas!

5 Tips On How To Deep Clean Your Make-up Brushes

Deep cleaning your make-up brushes is a task that is rather like Marmite; some people find the task extremely laborious, whilst others revel in doing so. I, myself, apply to the latter half of that sentence. For some bizarre reason, I love the process of cleaning my brushes and get great satisfaction watching all of the dirt and grime that has built get washed away. Plus, the feeling of then using your newly clean brushes the next day is very satisfying! With that being said, there is a lot of confusion as to which way is the best way you clean your brushes. So, today I have a compiled a little list of tips that I have learnt since I have been blogging to share with you all. I hope you find them handy!

1. The best products to use to deep clean your make-up brushes are either a specifically designed brush cleanser or baby shampoo, if you are on a budget such as myself. The reason for this is that both formulas will be very gentle on your brush hairs, yet they will still give them a thorough clean at the same time.

2. Saturating your brush in lukewarm water before cleaning them will get rid of any excess product on your brushes, which will make your job a little bit easier.

3. I have found that the best method to use is to squirt a little bit of your chosen product into the palm of your hand, then swirl the brush around in circular motions. You should add a little more water in as you go too, to allow the product to lather up and to cleanse your brushes really well.

4. Rinsing your brushes thoroughly is key. When you squeeze out the excess water after you have washed each brush, it should run clear and not have any make-up or bubbles from the product you have used coming out of it. If it does, then you should repeat the process of rinsing the brush again until it is completely clear.

5. Once you have cleaned each brush, you will want to place it somewhere convenient to let it air dry. Although some people say that laying your brushes down flat on a table is fine, I disagree. The best angle to allow your brushes to dry is have the brush hairs facing downwards (I tend to prop mine up on my window sill.) This will ensure that any extra water can run out of the brush, instead of run deeper into the brush which in turn will start to damage the glue that holds your brush and its hairs together.

Extra Tips

- Aim to deep clean your brushes about once a week.
- Spot cleaning is a great way of keeping your brushes sanitisied inbetween washing them.
- Some people use brush guards to protect their brushes and keep the bristles in shape.

So guys, those are my five top tips for deep cleaning your make up brushes! Of course, this is just my method but I have found to be very effective and so I wanted to share my pointers with all of you as well. Please feel free to let me know what your method is or if there are any ways that I can improve my method by leaving a comment below :)

My Real Techniques Brush Collection

Hi guys, today I thought that I would share my Real Techniques brush collection with you. Surprisingly and rather embarrassingly, I had never used proper make-up brushes up until last year, aside from a cheap Superdrug brush to apply powder and blusher etc. However, after starting my blog in March 2013, I soon discovered Real Techniques brushes and how much everybody adored them. So, I went to Boots and picked up the ever-so-popular Core Collection and that is when my obsession begun. Since then, I have added three more RT brushes to my collection and also hope to buy more in the future. Using high quality brushes has completely revolutionised the way that I apply my make-up and so today I wanted to write a post about the seven brushes that I own so far and what I use each one for. Let's get started!

The Core Collection - £21.99

Buffing Brush - This is without a doubt my favourite brush out of my entire collection, I use it religiously to apply my foundation. I love the way that it blends liquid foundation into my skin so easily and buffing the product in a circular motion leaves me with such an amazing yet natural finish, no matter how high the coverage is.

Pointed Foundation Brush - Although this brush was originally designed to apply foundation, I actually use this brush for a different purpose. I like to use it to pinpoint applying powder instead. As it is quite small and flat, I like to pat on powder under my eyes and so on to set my concealer in place and make sure that it doesn't budge throughout the day.

Contour Brush - Similarly with the contour brush, I tend to use this brush to apply powder highlighters instead. The shape and size of the brush makes it perfect for applying highlighter on the high point of my cheekbones to add luminosity and dimension to the skin. However, on the odd special occasion when I do decide to contour, this would be the brush that I would reach for too.

Detailer Brush - This is definitely the brush that I get the least use out of. I haven't really found many uses for it aside from pinpointing concealer on to really small areas such as blemishes, so that is what I use it for when pesky spots occur. I could also use the detailer brush to apply lipstick precisely but I tend to do just fine applying lipstick directly from the tube.

Powder Brush - £12.99
The powder brush is the first extra brush that I bought after purchasing the core collection. I love how big the brush is and it makes it so easy and quick to apply powder to set the rest of my make up. I think that the brush picks up the perfect amount of product too, so it never applies too cakey or thick.

Blush Brush - £9.99
The blush brush is my second favourite brush from my collection, as well as being one of the newest editions to my set. I love how fluffy this brush is and how it is slightly tapered, which means it applies blusher and bronzer beautifully. Just like the powder brush, it applies the perfect amount of product on to my cheeks.

Expert Face Brush - £9.99
I got the expert face brush for my birthday along with the blush brush above. I wanted it as an alternative to applying foundation as so many people rave about it but I do not like it anywhere near as much as my buffing brush, so I do not use this one very often. However, it is great for blending out blusher or bronzer if I have applied too much, so that is what I tend to use it for.

I hope you have all enjoyed reading about my Real Techniques brush collection! I think its safe to say that I would never go back to not using brushes ever again because I love them so much. Real Techniques are a wonderful brand and have amazing yet relatively affordable brushes, and the fact they are designed my Sam and Nic Chapman (aka Pixiwoo) makes them even better! Do you own any RT brushes? Which one is your favourite? Please let me know by leaving a comment below!

What I Got For My 20th Birthday | Part One

Hi guys, I cannot believe that I haven't posted anything on my blog in seven days! I have been quite ill over recent weeks which is extremely unfortunate as it was actually my 20th birthday on Wednesday! However, despite feeling incredibly unwell, I still had a lovely low-key day at home and I received some lovely presents too - which is what I want to share with you all today. I know that some people find these posts to be a little 'braggy' but if you're anything like me (aka nosey,) you love snooping at what other people got for their birthdays! I am very grateful for all of the gifts that I was given and I am simply excited to share them with you. As it's the end of the month, I would usually be posting my monthly favourites but as I have been sick and have not been using many products lately, I have decided to skip the favourites post this month. So, without any further ado, let's jump right in!

First up, my parents kindly bought me a couple of clothing items from Forever 21. I picked out two of these outfits a couple of weeks ago as my Mum knows how fussy I am when it comes to buying clothes! I picked out both of the floral items above; on the left is a floral bodycon dress and on the right is a lovely floral playsuit. However, my parents also bought me this black & grey bodycon dress in the middle as a little surprise. I love all of them so much, I cannot wait to wear them!

My parents also bought me two new Real Techniques brushes to add to my collection; an Expert Face Brush and a Blush Brush. I am so excited to use these as I adore how soft new brushes feel, plus Real Techniques are just such a great brand. Not only this but they also bought me this gorgeous 'Lovestruck Floral Rush' perfume from Vera Wang, which I have had my eye on for a while now. The scent is, of course, a beautiful floral smell which lingers on the skin for absolutely ages. Plus, the bottle is so cute that it's going to look great on my shelf!

Next up, my older brother bought this beauty kit from Benefit called 'Do The Bright Thing.' I have been wanting to try some more Benefit products for a while now and so this kit is absolutely perfect for me. The kit contains five items including the That Gal brightening primer, High Beam, They're Real mascara, Bad Gal Eyeliner and the Dandelion blusher. As an extra little gift, he also got me a couple of bits from Lush too; a Think Pink bath bomb and two bubble bars, The Comforter & Pop In The Bath. Also when my brother opened the Lush delivery, it came with a little note saying that they had thrown in an extra product for free to spread some kindness (how cute!) So, I luckily got a Ceridwen's Cauldron bath melt thrown in for good measure too. Yay!

Last but not least for part one of my birthday post are the presents from my lovely boyfriend! Firstly, he bought me the How I Met Your Mother box set which features seasons 1 to 8. This is one of my all time favourite programmes and as well as this, I encouraged him to start watching it when we first got together too. So, this is definitely a present that we are both going to enjoy watching when we have our lazy nights in (which happen a lot!) Also knowing what a Lush addict I am, Kieran also bought me a little gift set called 'Relax... Take A Bath.' This set includes a Dorothy Bubble Bar, a Twilight Bath Bomb and a Dreamtime bath melt. They all smell amazing and I cannot wait to use them! Plus, he also got me a few bags of my favourite sweets and chocolate too... yum!

I hope you all enjoyed reading part one of 'What I Got For My 20th Birthday.' I am so grateful for all of the presents that I received and I have been thoroughly spoiled by all of my loved ones! I cannot wait to start using everything, I'm so excited! Thank you for reading and part two will be up at some point in the near future :)

My Monthly Favourites - December 2013

Hi guys! As promised in the post I uploaded yesterday, 'My New Years Eve Make-Up,' here are my December Favourites. Granted this post is a few days late now (I cannot believe it is now 2014) but better late than never, eh! Usually, my favourites tend to consist of products that I have been loving for quite a long period of time, as I like to give honest and well-rounded reviews of things that I have tried and tested for at least a month. However, all of this months products have only been in my possession for a week or less. In addition, three of the products I will be mentioning today were given to me as Christmas presents,  which I am incredibly grateful for! With that being said, let's get straight into my five favourite products during the month of December.

Clinique Superprimer Universal Face Primer - £20.00
First up is this lovely primer from Clinique. I have been after this particular primer for a fair few months now after I used a sample of it that I found in a magazine. Up until now, I have only used cheaper high-street primers which I haven't got on with too well (Revlon's Photo Ready Primer in particular.) I have only used this product once so far, on New Years Eve, and I must say that I am impressed already. It provided a smooth base for my foundation, which seemed to stay put all night whilst I was out clubbing. My parents bought me this for Christmas and I am so grateful because it's a product I probably wouldn't have been able to afford or fathom buying otherwise. As it is so special, I am vowing to only use it on special occasions and nights out!

Marc Jacobs Honey Eau de Parfum (50ml) - £39.50
This perfume was another surprise present that was given to me by my Mum and Dad. I am a huge fan of Marc Jacobs fragrances overall, both their smells and packaging are amazing. I was actually given the gift set version which includes a shower gel and body lotion with matching scents to the perfume. The eau de parfum itself is a pretty sweet scent, which I usually steer clear of, but due to it's added fruity elements - it is a lot more wearable. I would agree that it is more of a spring/summer fragrance but it's gorgeous none the less!

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Five Fruits Super Rich Soothing Body Butter  - £10.50
Next, my lovely aunt and uncle bought me this tub of Soap & Glory body butter. I am a lover of the brand and both me and my Mum use Soap & Glory products religiously. Considering that they are a widely available high-street brand, the quality of their products are amazing. The Righteous Butter has always been my favourite but now I am converted. I tend to prefer fruity and refreshing scents as opposed to cocoa or shea butter scents, though I still love both. This moisturiser is extremely rich and sinks into the skin really quickly, which is an added bonus.

Real Techniques Powder Brush  - £12.99
I have owned the Real Techniques Core Collection, which consists of four brushes; buffing, contour, pointed foundation and detailer brushes, for quite a while now. However, I have been stuck using a brandless powder brush that is pretty useless. The hairs of the brush always used to shed, leaving little black hairs all of my face (how frustrating!) So, with some cash that my Nan gave me for Christmas, I have finally gotten around to buying this brush. As with all Real Techniques brushes, the bristles are really soft and I know that I am going to get a lot of use out of it. I also hope to expand my brush collection in the near future. Next on my list is the Starter Set that features 5 eye brushes.

Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Color in Cherry Pie  - £7.99
Last but not least is this lovely lip colour from Maybelline. I am always on the look out for long-wearing lip products, as there is nothing I hate more than lipstick that barely lasts an hour without fading, transferring onto your teeth or bleeding outside of the lines. I bought this particular product after my friend Sarah recommended it to me, as she has it in a different colour. I bought the shade 'Cherry Pie,' which is a deep red colour which is so pigmented. The lip colour is dual ended, one end being a liquid lipstick and the other being a clear balm. What you have to do is apply the lip colour, wait for it to dry sticky and then apply the balm over the time. I assure you, this product DOES NOT budge! In fact, it is so long-lasting that is actually a nightmare to remove and it requires a lot of scrubbing to do so. That, however, is the only downfall to this amazing product. My only wish is that I purchased a slightly more wearable colour so that I can wear it in the day time too, so I might have to do that some time in the future.

So, that's it for this month! I hope that you enjoyed reading about my December favourites. Please let me know if you have used any of the aforementioned products, I would love to know how you have got on with them. Also, feel free to let me know what products you have been loving over the past month - I love getting recommendations! Thank you :)

5 Things I Have Learnt Since Joining Blogger

Hi guys. Today I was thinking about how much I have learnt since becoming a part of this wonderful Blogger community. My blog is a mere five months old and so I am still relatively new to all of this, but I am really enjoying creating posts for you all to read. It really excites me when people respond well to my content as I put a lot of time and effort into it. Plus, the comments that I receive always put a huge smile on my face. I thought that I would write this post today to help out any other bloggers that are new on to the scene and impart some of my 'newbie' wisdom on to them. So, without any further ado, here are the top five things that I have learnt during my Blogger experience so far!

1. The Diversity of Blogger
I never realised how popular Blogger is. Up until I started this blog, I solely used Tumblr to post all of my thoughts and feelings on to (as well as re-blogging photos of course!) However, I always felt that my Tumblr was very impersonal and so I decided to create my own blog here. I quickly discovered that there are so many different genres of blogs and that the Blogger community is so diverse. However, my favourite blogs are beauty, fashion & lifestyle blogs which are similar to mine. In addition, I never knew that there would be so many beauty blogs around. Of course I knew all of the major female bloggers after discovering them on YouTube - Zoella, Tanya Burr, Fleur De Force and so on, but I never realised that so many beauty bloggers are simply normal girls like me.

2. Followers Are Just A Number
Although having a lot of followers would be amazing, it is not the be all and end all. If you enjoy blogging and it makes you happy, then that is all that matters! My tiny blog has 29 followers at the moment and although this may sound like a minuscule number to some, I am very proud that I even have that many and that 29 people in this world like my writing enough to follow me! So, never feel defeated by the number next to your Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin' button!

3. Creating High Quality Content Is Hard Work
It is incredibly difficult to come up with new and innovative content for your blog. I find it extremely difficult at times to come up with posts that I feel will interest my followers. There have been times where I have gone for over a week without blogging because I have had a serious case of writers block or I have not been able to focus my thoughts into a post. I find that the way around this problem is to take inspiration from other blogs that are similar to yours and see what you like or dislike about the posts, and then channel that into your own writing. However, remember that you should never copy or steal somebody's content!

4. Building A Rapport With Fellow Bloggers
It is extremely important to build a rapport with other bloggers. Having a relationship with fellow bloggers will always be beneficial and it is a good way to make connections that can be used later down the line. A good way to do this is to comment on other peoples blogs with words of encouragement, telling them what you liked about their posts and so on. For me, receiving nice comments from my followers is one of the things I love most about Blogger because it shows that others appreciate what I write about and can connect to it too.

5. Beauty Tips & Tricks
Finally, number five on my list is purely related to beauty blogs. I have always been a girly girl and I have always loved make-up. Not only does it make me feel confident, I actually consider applying make-up to be an art form and it really fascinates me. Although I do not have lots of money and do not own many high-end products, I am a cosmetics junkie! Since I have been reading everybody else's blogs, I have picked up so many helpful tips and discovered some great products that really work well for me. The biggest tip I have learnt was to invest in some Real Techniques brushes. Before, I never used to use a make-up brush to apply my foundation (shocking, I know!) but now I could never revert back to my old ways. These brushes are an absolute godsend and I will definitely be purchasing more in the future as I only have the Core Collection at the moment.

I hope that you all enjoyed reading about what I have learnt since joining Blogger and I hope that this little post may help any fellow Blogger 'newbies.' Thank you for reading :)
